Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Equiplex 10th August, 2023 ‘If you get, give; if you learn, teach’ The TY Bsc. Of SRIHM definately had these words in mind as they put their heart and soul into the wonderful exhibition of “Equiplex”. They presented 14 different tables, each explaining various equipments used in the world of the Food and Beverage service. The students had come up with extremely creative ways to explain the equipments which was very easy to comprehend. The tables were visited by the budding first years, who got the opportunity to acquire knowledge about these equipments, from the caviar spoons to Guéridon trolleys.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Barbenheimer Themed Freshers Party 14th August, 2023 The SRIHM freshers event organized by the SyBsc on the 14th of August was themed “Barbenheimer,” a combination of two critically acclaimed popular movies “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.” With the theme of the evening in mind the auditorium was beautifully decorated with stunning lights, elegant props and exquisite decoration, which created a whimsical atmosphere. The students were escorted into the auditorium and welcoming them was a special drink curated by the bar team, ‘The Barbie Floss’. And thus the fresher’s was kickstarted by the hosts for the evening Tejal Tank, Siddhant Vichare, Divya Sehgal and Artham Yadav. First step, welcoming the judges, Chef Stany Lopes, Chef Reshma Nagarkar, Chef Manoj Kamble, Mrs. Sreejita Vikas, Kirk Sampey and Mr. Nixon Dmello a panel of experts in judging talents and character. Second step, welcoming the students who have been waiting for this moment, impatiently. After a little brief introduction, students participated in a fun ramp where they showed off the incredible classy walks. This was followed by a talent show that showcased some incredible hidden gems, Some participants blew minds with their majestic voice, while some lit the stage on fire with their fiery dance moves. Some participants even managed to make everybody laugh with their amazing humor and excellent comic timing. From singing, dancing and standup comedy to a Bollywood quiz that tested everyone’s knowledge, there were winners for all rounds. The night came to a close with the most awaited winning of the all the titles Mr. Kael Mascarenhas – Mr. Fresher/ Mr. Oppenheimer Ms. Diya Thakker – Ms. Fresher/ Ms. Barbie Mr. Kael Mascarenhas & Ms. Anjali Maurya – Best runaway performers Mr. Jason D’costa & Ms. Diya Thakker – Best Talent Mr. Atharva lad & Ms. Aashi Chitnawis – Best dressed male and female (Fashionistas) Mr. Kael Mascarenhas and Ms. Mehek Jagasia – Mr & Ms Bollywood fanatics. Their win was celebrated with cheers and applause from the whole crowd. The night ended on a wonderful note where the students danced the night away to the fabulous beats of the Dj and to satisfy their hunger, each student was given a box filled with Korean Cheese Buns, Chicken/Veg Sandwiches, Chocolate Fudge and a packet of Wafers. With beautiful memories ingrained in their minds forever, new friends and new beginnings everywhere, the event was a perfect way to start a new chapter in all the students’ lives.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Masterclass by Chef Nikita Malhotra 18th August, 2023 The Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) gave an incredible opportunity to the Second Year Hospitality Studies students to learn the art of dessert plating over a period of 2 days, with none other than the Celebrity Chef Nikita Malhotra the current Pastry Consultant for Izumi and the owner of Quinconce Patisserie. Chef Nikita taught the students various techniques of tempering chocolates, bringing multiple elements to plating and creating picture perfect delectable dessert, the Mushroom forest.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Drinq Bartending Guest Lecture 27th June, 2023 Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) conducted a Guest Lecture and Bartending demonstration on the 27th of June 2023 by Drinq Bar Academy to introduce the students to opportunities in the field of bartending. Drinq Bar Academy provides government recognized bartending courses along with certificates. During the demonstration Mr. Babuji Jinaga, one of the head teachers at Drinq Bar Academy and also a bartender with a rich experience of 17 years, taught us about the different aspects of bartending. He told us about the history behind various terms used in this industry and gave an exciting display of many different methods of preparing mocktails and cocktails such as shaking, stirring, layering etc. after which Mohammad, the flare teacher at Drinq Bar Academy, came with immaculate showmanship to show the skill of juggling. He also briefed the students about the advantages of being a Sommelier or Mixologist. Moving forward the students were asked to volunteer to prepare some mocktails using ingredients of their choice and thus given an opportunity to try out different skills. With the active participation of our students and guidance of the teachers, the students were able to create beautiful drinks. Towards the end of the demonstration, the students were given 2 different non-alcoholic drinks made by the Drinq Bar Academy using Molecular Mixology. The drinks were inspired from Hawaiian and Indian Beverages respectively. The Hawaiian drink used Sprite as a base and had mini ball like structures made of blue curacao while the Indian drink had a flavour of paan and looked like a drink enclosed in a transparent membrane which was an exquisite vision. The event concluded with all the students raising a toast together. There was a Quiz conducted as well by Drinq Bar Academy for the students on the bar equipment displayed and beverages which were demonstrated. After the demonstration feedback on the same was taken from the students by the College.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Cyber Crime Workshop 21st June 2023 As humans increasingly intertwine their lives with the digital world, cyber security has become a growing concern across the globe, India being no exception. Creating awareness amongst individuals is the only way to prevent such crimes. Keeping just this in mind, the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) hosted a special seminar on Cyber Frauds Awareness on 21st June 2023 from 3pm to 4:30 pm. The event began with the lighting of the lamp and the singing of the National Anthem in the auditorium of the institute. Dr. Harish Kumar Purohit, Director of SRBS and Rotary Club president, Mr. Dharmendra Sharma acted as the gracious hosts for the afternoon. The keynote speaker for the day was Shri Bal Singh Rajput – Dy. Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Wing. Mr. Rajput began his delivery with a brief introduction to the Mumbai Police Cyber Crime Wing and covered topics such as Cyber Crime Hotspots, Motives and Types of Cyber Crimes – Fake Profiles, Search Engine Edit Frauds, Sextortion Frauds, Investment Frauds and Electricity Frauds. Honorary trustees Mr. and Mrs. Wadhwani who were in attendance, put forth questions that were answered by the speaker. Students of all three departments – SRIHM, SRBS and LSR were present and received a deeper understanding of the cybercrime and cyber security landscape in India.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM International Yoga Day 21st June, 2023 All three colleges jointly organized a Yoga Day program on 21 June 2023 which is celebrated as International Yoga Day all over the world. Students and faculty from SRBS, LSRoA and SRIHM participated in an hour-long session from 9 am to 10 am. A Yoga Instructor with a rich experience Mr. Ishank Raghupate was invited for the Yoga demonstration. Mr. Raghupate introduced the concept and the importance of the word ‘Yoga’ derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yog’ which means union i.e. union of body, mind and spirit. He started with a warm-up of stretches followed by the ancient breathing technique – Pranayama and various Asanas. He also taught everyone to perform Surya Namaskars and demonstrated a 10 minute Asana for the whole body which he advised everyone to practice on a daily basis. The session ended with everyone feeling grateful. It was truly a beautiful yogic experience where everyone left with a sense of belonging and community as the feeling of oneness enveloped us as we embraced this ancient practice and experienced its benefits.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Degree Distribution Ceremony 17th June, 2023 On 17th June 2023 the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) conducted the Degree Distribution Ceremony for the BA Culinary Arts and BSc (Hospitality Studies) batches of 2019 – 2022. The Chief Guests for the ceremony were the Honorary President of the Bombay Suburban Art and Craft Education Society, Mr. Shyam Wadhwani and Mrs. Bindu Wadhwani. The Guest of Honour for the event was Mr. Ramu Vemulapally who is the Area Human Resource Director-South Mumbai & Director of Human Resources at the Taj Mahal Palace & Towers, Mumbai.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM NMACC (INDIA AT FASHION) 6th April, 2023 India in Fashion exhibition was attended by 115 students and faculty members of Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management on Thursday, 6th April 2023. The students were amazed and thrilled by the fabulous opulence of the costume art exhibition which is a statement of Indian influence on the global fashion scene spanning the last 3 centuries. Curated by author and costume expert Hamish Bowles, this first of its kind show in India features iconic international fashion designers viz. Jean-Phillipe Worth, Cristobel Balenciaga, Gabrielle Coco Chanel, Christian Dior and Indian designers including Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani and Manish Malhotra to name a few. The exhibition was accompanied by an insightful and truly immersive audio guide experience which was enjoyed by the students using their headphones and smart phones. All in all it was a real ‘WOW’ experience that left the students and faculty members absolutely spellbound. We wish to convey our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Durga Raheja, the Sheila Gopal Raheja Foundation and Bombay Suburban Art & Craft Education Society for providing us such opportunities which not only help in the overall holistic development of the students but also enables them to broaden their scholastic horizons.

Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart”. – Mahatma Gandhi On the 5th of April 2023 we at the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) bid adieu to our Third Year students of B.Sc. (Hospitality Studies) B.A. Culinary Arts through ‘The Red Affair’ the red-carpet farewell party organized by the Second Year Culinary Students. It was a grand affair with a dash of red…everywhere you looked, consisting of a fashion show, complete with amazingly choreographed dances, fun awards and wrapping the beautiful evening with a DJ for the students to burn the dance floor, all organized by the Second Year B.A. Culinary Arts students. The winner of the best dressed student of The Red Affair was Ms. Mrudula Chnadorkar of Third Year Culinary Arts and Mr. & Ms. Farewell were Mr. Pranay Mandalkar and Ms. Mrudula Chandorkar respectively. The party ended with the students dancing the evening away to the beats of the music belted out by the DJ.
Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management Affiliated with University of Mumbai Life at SRIHM Felicitation of Mr. Ubaid Merchant T.Y.BCA Student 21st March, 2023 Mr. Ubaid Merchant student of T.Y. B.A. Culinary Arts at SRIHM battled it out with the initial number of 7500+ participants of 200 colleges from over 14 cities pan-India and was the Winner of The Better Kitchen’s Everest Culinary Challenge, Season 4 – The Hunt for India’s Culinary Stars.The culinary challenge took place on 3 levels – Intra-college, Regional of State and National and was critically judged by renowned Chefs of the Hospitality Studies. Mr. Sandeep Raheja, Mrs. Durga Raheja and Sheila Gopal Raheja Fund spontaneously and magnanimously announced a cash reward of Rs. 2,00,000 to felicitate Mr. Ubaid Merchant on his great achievement. He was facilitated in the presence of his mother by the President of the Bombay Suburban Art & Craft Education Society, Mr Shyam Wadhwani, Trustee Mrs. Bindoo Wadhwani and the Honorary General Secretary Mr. Arvind Tiwari. They were accompanied by the Principal of LSRSoA – Ar. Mandar Parab, Director of SRBS – Dr. Harish Purohit, Principal of SRIHM – Prof. Conrad D’souza and Former Director of SRBS: Dr. H.J.Bhasin.
