PERSPECTIVE PLAN (2020-2025)
At the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) we believe in growing together with the current trends of the Industry, The College started with the B.Sc. Hospitality studies program in the Academic year 2013-14. To stay abreast with the teaching learning process the College proposed to initiate an Innovative Culinary program, B.A. Culinary Art which commenced in the academic year 2016-17. The College is proudly HACCP compliant and certified by Tuv Nord. The College is committed to achieve the Vision & Mission and excel in the field of Hospitality Education by creating a vibrant learning environment and enabling excellence.
Our perspective plan for the next five years is an outcome of detailed research and knowledge sharing propositions by the team at SRIHM to meet the goals.

Though the College follows the prescribed curriculum of the University of Mumbai, Skilfulness improvement activities are conducted for amplification of academic enrichment to make the Students Industry ready.

Bartending and Mixology – A short term Bartending and Mixology Course will be conducted to enhance the Bartending skill of the Students.
First Aid and Fire Safety – A professional firefighting and First Aid Training Establishment will be hired to facilitate a short term workshop, demonstrating the elementary Firefighting and First aid techniques related to the Hospitality Industry.
Food Photography – An Expert and Inventive Food artist and Food Photographer will be requested to conduct a masterclass on the diverse aspects of Food Photography and unveil a live food styling and Photography assemblage.
Soft Skill training – An Industry Expert on a part-time basis will be recruited to train and develop the soft skills of Students thus enabling them to enhance their personality.
Personal Grooming – College has been on a continual path of improving the grooming standards of the Student – both boys and girls as per the requirement of the Hospitality Industry. To gain more expertise and exposure the Industry professionals will be invited to demonstrate sessions on Grooming.
Conclusion:
The College in the near future will explore the opportunity of new Academic based Short term Courses related to the Hospitality sector.
Widen Academic Dominion:
The Academic environment can be advanced to make it competitive at the highest level of Education. The purpose should be to an inspiration to a variety of learners and retort to their needs and abilities and thus enhance the Teaching- Learning Process.
Keeping this perspective in mind, the following areas for widening the Educational Dominion for the enhancement of Teaching- learning process are proposed
a. To enhance and upgrade the learning resources like Kitchens, Restaurants, I.T labs, and ICT.
b. To form various student clubs as per their interest to develop healthy relations between the teacher and student.
c. To enhance the commitment to provide student’s needs in different aspects through Mentoring, Counselling and Remedial classes.
d. To frequently conduct field trips, knowledge and study tours giving first hand experience on various aspects of the hospitality industry.
e. To create question banks to enable the students to prepare for the examinations and simultaneously for the Placement interviews.
f. To embolden the faculty members to apply for patents.
g. To conduct National/International Exchange Programs for Teachers and Students.
Research and Publication:
Exploration and Publication are core components of academia, and motivating faculty members and students to engage in impactful research and publish their findings is essential for the growth and reputation of an Academic Institution. The college intends to have:
Supportive Environment: Foster a culture that values and supports research and publication. Provide an environment where faculty feel encouraged, recognized, and rewarded for their research efforts.
Resource Allocation: Allocate sufficient resources, including research facilities, equipment, and access to databases and libraries, to enable faculty to conduct high-quality research.
Research and Consultancy Cell: To encourage exploration, growth and consultancy in the college, and influence faculty and students to commence research projects through programs/awards/enticements. The Cell should monitor on-going research projects, guide staff and students to address issues of research as well as organize programs to infuse research culture among the staff and students. It helps to explore the in-house expertise in various subjects and use it to provide consultancy.
Enhance Student Experience:
Enhancing the student experience is essential for educational institutions to promote learning, engagement, and overall communication among their students. Here are several strategies to achieve this:
At SRIHM, a holistic approach is provided for student enhancement that addresses both academic and non-academic aspects of a students’ life. Continuous evaluation and adaptation of the strategies will be done to meet the evolving needs and expectations of the student body.

● Reimbursement of registration fees for all faculty members to present research papers in conference.
● Continue with responsible social outreach activities through DLLE.
● Continue with the HACCP certification to maintain high standards of hygiene and cooking standards.
● Conduct various exhibitions to get students familiar with food and beverage service equipment.
● Conduct Karmachari Divas to appreciate the efforts of the kitchen and housekeeping attendants.
Community Engagement
Community engagement fosters positive social change. It is a vital practice for building stronger, more inclusive communities and addressing a wide range of social, economic, and environmental challenges. It helps to build perspective and awareness among students of their social responsibilities.
The college through DLLE will continue to:
● Carry out blood donation camp
● Celebrate the “Joy of Giving” week.
● Encourage student participation in the tree plantation drive.
● Build awareness among students about the importance of social cleanliness through beach cleaning drives.
 
Alumni Engagement

The college is committed to provide the state of the art and upgraded facilities and equipment used in the Hospitality Industry which will result in outstanding quality Managers and Chefs who will be well prepared to succeed in the global Hospitality Industry.
Continuous updation of knowledge resources will include major and minor changes in the existing resources.
To augment the existing infrastructure and resources, the college will initiate:
● Digitization of Library: to enhance access to research and improve preservation of library materials.
● Increase in database with regards to books and journals:
● Gradually convert classrooms into smart classrooms
● Online access to the books and journals in the library
● Procurement of high end equipment for various kitchens like combination oven and convection oven.
● Acquire online resources for smooth and flawless operation
● Installation of CCTV cameras for more safety of students, staff and property
● Upgradation of existing kitchens with technology and current trends.
● Creation of NAAC Room
● Creation of new Staff room with desktops for each faculty.
● Parking Space for two wheelers and four Wheelers for the teaching and non-teaching staff.
● Increase Locker room area for Female Students.
