A Wine Masterclass was conducted for our second-year students of Hospitality studies and Bachelors in Culinary arts by Ms. Malaica Abreo on the 26th August 2022 in the seminar Hall.
Malaica started with a few basics on wine – What are wines, how are they made, names of red wine and white wine grapes, the difference between Old world wine countries and New world wine countries, etc.
She then went on to talk about current trends in the wine world like, wines in cans, the use of the Coravin, etc. Students were also educated about the flavor profiles of wines as well as wine and food pairing. She touched up on popular new world wines and informed the students about new upcoming wineries in India.
Malaica ended her session by talking about her career journey right after she left Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology to her current job profile. She enlightened the students about the career scope in wines.
