The first day I entered the college, the infrastructure and the facilities here just mesmerized me, this college has never failed to astonish me. Be education, the atmosphere or extra-curricular activities, the college is one step ahead of all. The Principal here is very supportive and encourages one on one interaction. Faculty members are always available for students and conduct interactive, fun-oriented classes. They also ensure research and individual approach. The faculty of respective departments has knowledge in depth. I feel proud to be part of this college.

I am a proud student of SRIHM. My reason for taking admission in this college was not only the infrastructure but also the friendly nature and efficiency of the staff members. I remember the day when I first visited this college, a second-year student familiarized me with the infrastructure and the facilities of the college. The way he was communicating with me and explaining each and every detail with confidence impressed me.The first year was beyond my expectations. The experience has changed me a lot, earlier I was shy and was unable to communicate with people, but after spending a year in this college, I have learned how to be a good communicator. The faculty members, especially the principal, are supportive and are always ready to help the students. I hope my second and third year will be a lot more exciting with new learning experiences.

Various lectures organized have provided interesting opportunities to become familiar with the world of hospitality . Simply, a leap of faith
“Where there is a will, there certainly is a way” This adage has been my guiding principle since I embarked on my journey at SRIHM in September 2020. Although my batch was part of the pandemic generation, I refused to let it define my experience. Instead, I embraced the challenges as opportunities for growth staged the talents, I confided in me.
While virtual learning presented its unique obstacles, it also allowed me to develop essential skills, such as time management and self-discipline. I actively participated in online clubs, workshops, and events, seizing every chance to expand my horizons. The virtual environment also pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and take on leadership roles.
When college reopened post-pandemic, I was thrilled to be back on campus. The energy and camaraderie of in-person interactions were invaluable. I fully immersed myself in college life, participating in competitions, organizing events, connecting with my peers and so much more. The opportunity to collaborate and create lasting memories was truly rewarding.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my time at SRIHM was the importance of resilience. When faced with setbacks or uncertainties, I learned to adapt and find creative solutions. The college's supportive faculty and encouraging atmosphere played a crucial role in helping me overcome challenges and maintain a positive outlook.
With that positive attitude, friends by my side, encouraging faculty and a wonderful principal, Mr. Conrad D’souza, little did I realize how and when the three years flew by. I am grateful for the friendships I formed, the people I met and the experiences I gained during my time at SRIHM. The lessons I learned will undoubtedly shape my future endeavours. I've grown so much as an individual here, learning to balance academics with personal life, and finding my voice in a community that values diversity and inclusion. Being a student leader (Lady Representative for the year 2023-24) at SRIHM has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my college journey. Leading the student council has taught me invaluable lessons in teamwork, communication, and decision-making. I've grown in confidence and learned how to inspire and motivate others; skills that will undoubtedly serve me well in my future career. I am deeply honored to share my journey at Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management, a place I have come to cherish as my second home.
From our first year, we've come a long way: from eagerly anticipating kitchen practicals mainly for the delicious food at the end (and nearly burning down the college in the process), to wearing our F&B uniforms with pride while discussing fancy French dishes and alcohol that we barely understood. We've performed some hilarious role-plays in front office, and in housekeeping, we learnt to make a bed properly and never forgot to place that chocolate on the pillow. Through it all, we've transformed from clueless beginners to some of the industry's most promising prodigies.
When I first joined this esteemed institution in Mumbai, I was a shy and reserved individual, unsure of my potential. Yet, from the moment I stepped through the doors, I felt a sense of belonging. The impressive infrastructure and cutting-edge facilities were certainly noteworthy, but it was the warmth and dedication of the faculty that truly made an impact on me.
Initially, my dream was simple, I wanted to become a baker. However, my time at the institute revealed a world of opportunities I had never imagined. I immersed myself in various clubs and events, not as obligations, but as opportunities for growth and teamwork. Leading the Magazine and Literary Club was particularly transformative, allowing me to discover talents I never knew I had and to cultivate essential leadership skills.
One of the most surprising aspects of my journey was my transformation from a timid student to someone who could confidently emcee events. The encouragement and support I received from our faculty were instrumental in this growth. They treated us not just as students, but as their own, guiding us with care and patience.
Reflecting on my time here, I am astonished at how much I have grown. There were certainly challenges along the way, let’s just say the kitchen wasn’t always my friend but each stumble was met with unwavering support from our amazing faculty. Their patience and dedication have shaped me into who I am today.
As I prepare to leave, I find myself wishing I could relive these precious days. This bittersweet feeling, I believe, is a testament to the impactful and enriching experience I've had here. Hello readers! I’m am Sakshi Desai and I’m currently working as an Assistant Restaurant Manager at Taj West End Bengaluru. I graduated from the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) as a part of the infamous ‘Covid batch’, as 2023 was the year of graduation for us. Being a culinary and hospitality student, and now a hotelier; it’s been quite a journey. The twist in my journey was that I began with a vision of becoming a Chef. I wanted to work in the Indian Cuisine kitchen and study how spices are deep rooted generationally. By the end of my Internship at Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai, I was more intrigued about knowing which wines and whiskies would go better with the complex flavours we serve in Indian cuisine. And That is how I discovered my love for Food and Beverage Service. To add to that, SRIHM made sure I got enough opportunities to explore this new born interest by allowing me to handle various events. Right from menu curation at the Chef’s table to executing classic service sequences - the French way; we went all out. My professors have been the catalysts for my career decisions. They have guided me, encouraged me and most importantly they’ve validated my thoughts, which is very rare to find lately. It was my dream to be associated with the brand I am working for right now and SRIHM ensured I worked towards it even when I doubted myself. And that’s what made the difference. The friends I’ve made here are for life. They’ve seen me burn onions and break crockery. They’ve also seen me cater to hundreds of people and pour the finest of wines. These friends with whom I have sat in a classroom for years weaving similar dreams, are now family. As young minds, we all wanted to be in hotels without knowing how much it takes to be there. All the people and the place itself, made it so much better. Yes, it’s a hustler’s job, yes it is long working hours and imbalanced sleep cycles with a questionable social life. But if I could, I would go back and do the same all over again! Cheers!
