International Chefs Day Regional Dessert Competition

On the occasion of International Chefs Day, a regional Indian dessert competition was held
at SRIHM on 20th October 2023. It was a delightful celebration of India’s diverse and rich
culinary traditions for the budding chefs from First year. The event saw 45 enthusiastic
participants competing for top honours.
The event showcased a vibrant palette of Indian desserts, each representing different
regions of the country. From the rich and creamy caramel kharwas to the delightful mysore-
pak, the diversity of the flavours was a true testament to India’s culinary heritage.
The event was kick started by the students plating their respected desserts and to judge the
dishes, the event was graced by the presence of renowned culinary experts, Chef Milind
Tendulkar Sous Chef J.W.Mariott Mumbai, Chef Abdul Kadar former Executive Chef The
leela Mumbai and Consultant Chef, Chef Gaurav Motling Pastry Chef Taj Santacruz. Their
presence served as a source of inspiration for the participants. In addition to the dessert
tasting, we celebrated the International Chef’s day by having the faculty and the judges cut
the theme cake made by our own students.
The competition was neck to neck and finally 6 winners were announced. They are as
follows:
Supergold- Rasika Patil ( bebinca)
Supergold- Tanisha Patil ( caramel kharwas )
Gold- Saniya Bathija ( khubani-ka-Meetha )
Gold- Durva Kadam ( Wheat jaggery kher )
Silver- Aarjavi Raul ( Shirvale )
Silver- Mikail Ansari ( Shahi Tukada )
The event was an overwhelming success and it played a pivotal role in celebrating India’s
culinary diversity as well as the International chef day. This event was a step towards
preserving and promoting the culinary traditions of India.
