First Aid and Fire Safety Workshop

March 13th, 2023

On March 13th, 2023, the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) held a highly informative First Aid and Fire Safety Workshop for the TYBSc D batch (specialisation) students. The workshop was organised by Professor Suchismita Roy Indra and conducted by Mr. Alnoor Gadiya, who did an excellent job of presenting the same. The Presentation was held in room no. 508 and the demonstration was done in the parking area of the college.

The workshop, which began promptly at 8:30 and lasted until 4:30 pm, was divided into two parts i.e. First Aid Training and Fire Safety Workshop. Mr. Gadiya began by emphasising the importance and purpose of first aid, highlighting the primary and secondary surveys that must be conducted before providing aid to a casualty. He introduced the DRSABCD method, a practical approach to first aid, and demonstrated how to perform CPR and identify spinal injuries. Participants also learned how to provide first aid for burns, snake bites, and fractured bones and how to tie a tourniquet.

In the second half of the workshop, participants learned about Fire Safety Training. The fire triangle and different types of fire extinguishers were discussed, followed by a live demonstration on how to use them. Participants were then given the opportunity to practice putting out a fire by themselves.

Overall, the workshop was an engaging and informative experience that equipped participants with essential life-saving skills. It instilled confidence in approaching emergency situations, providing first aid, and identifying and using fire extinguishers in case of a fire. Mr. Alnoor Gadiya’s extensive knowledge and expertise were highly appreciated, and we hope to see more workshops like this in the future.

In conclusion, the First Aid and Fire Safety Workshop was a highly valuable experience for all participants, and we are grateful to everyone involved in organising and conducting it. The skills learned will undoubtedly serve us well in any emergency situation.
