BHONU NI MEHFIL – A PARSI THEMED LUNCH EVENT

BHONU NI MEHFIL – A PARSI THEMED LUNCH EVENT

14th of August 2024

On the 14th of August 2024, the second-year students of B.A in Culinary Arts hosted "Bhonu Ni Mehfil," a themed lunch event celebrating the rich culinary heritage of the Parsi community. The event aimed to provide guests with an authentic Parsi dining experience, blending traditional flavors with a warm, community-centric atmosphere.

The event was meticulously planned and executed by the students along with the General Manager Ms. Diya Thakkar and Assistant General Manager Mr. Aditya Rajguru, who were eager to showcase their culinary skills and understanding of Parsi culture. The theme, "Bhonu Ni Mehfil," which translates to "a gathering for a feast," perfectly encapsulated the essence of the event – a celebration of food, culture and togetherness. At first the guests were welcomed with a drink and a cultural performance by the students, then they were escorted into the restaurant. To inaugurate the event the students Ms. Shreya Nair and Ms. Bhoovika Punjabi baked a cake which depicted some elements of Parsi culture such as a “Bun Maska”, “Checkered Tablecloth” and Parsi sweets using a fondant.

Guests at “Bhonu Ni Mehfil” were treated to an unforgettable dining experience that was both educational and enjoyable. Many expressed their appreciation for the students’ efforts in bringing Parsi Culture to life through their food and hospitality. The event also provided an opportunity for the guests to learn more about the Parsi community and its culinary traditions. The venue also had a live counter which served Irani Chai and Bun Muska along with Parsi egg Akuri and Paneer Akuri under the guidance of Chef Dilraj Singh Bhamrah. "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." - Muhammad Ali. Blood is the gift of life to the ones who need it, the students enthusiastically donated blood and were happy to save lives.
