On 2nd February, 2023, the Housekeeping Lab of Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel
Management (SRIHM) was abuzz with activity as the Rooms Division Management (RDM)
specialisation students participated in the Linen Origami Competition. The competition was
designed to challenge the creativity and skills of the students in making intricate and
innovative designs using linen.
The students participated in the competition with great enthusiasm, making creative towel
art based on various themes such as birthday parties, baby showers, forest themes, and
honeymoons. The competition witnessed an array of designs including towel swans, teddy
bears, dinosaurs, floral designs, and other animals such as tortoises and hares. The designs
were judged by the Housekeeping Professor, Ms. Suchismita Roy Indra, on the basis of
theme, usefulness, and aesthetic appeal. The competition was won by team partners Mr.
Viraj Pandya and Mr. Vinay Chauhan, who created Towel Swans decorated with rose petals
and fairy lights. The runner-up position was won by Mr. Pranay Mandalkar and Mr. Aaditya
Vishwakarma, who created Towel Teddy Bears for a baby shower party for twins.
The Linen Origami Competition was a resounding success, providing an opportunity for the
students to showcase their creativity and talent.
