The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) affiliated by the University of Mumbai, organized “Udaan” fest for all the colleges working under this DLLE. Under this fest, several competitions were held such as street play, elocution, creative writing and poster making. Students from Sheila Raheja college of Hotel Management participated in street play as well as poster making competitions. They had chosen LGBTQ as their topic for street play which was meticulously put together. The name of the play was “Kahani Ek Seagull Ki”, which was inspired from the novel “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” written by Richard Bach. Faculty heads, Chef Manoj Kamble and Chef Vinayak Shettigar guided the students throughout the process. Student managers and other members of the club were also present at their assistance. Students’ performances were spot on which eventually left the crowd speechless.
All the participants along with faculty heads were requested to report by 8:30 am at Reena Mehta College of Commerce and Management Studies, Bhayandar. They all went through a short registration for the competition; followed by breakfast being made available for the participants. The competitions started around 10 am with the HOD of Hospitality studies addressing the students. It was no sooner than the professor and director of DLLE Mumbai, Mr. Kunal Jadhav took over the event. In all, 17 colleges had taken part in the street play competition.
It was indeed a proud moment for everyone as Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) DLLE unit won 2nd prize for the street play.
