Prin. B.P. Sahni

(Principal for the academic year Jan 2013 – Sept 2018)

PRIN. B.P. SAHNI has graduated in Science from the University of Kerala and completed his Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the premier Institute of Hotel Management in Mumbai. He is among the most erudite Hospitality Educators, having a Masters in Tourism Management as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Predisposed as he is to gaining knowledge and understanding research, Prin. Sahni has acquired a Masters in Philosophy and is a research scholar for the Doctorate of Philosophy.

Prin. Sahni epitomizes the ability to put theory into practice by his vast experience of more than three decades in the Hospitality Industry. In a dedicated attempt to recompense the industry in which he has worked, he has been a Principal in various Hospitality Management Institutes of repute for twenty years and over three decades in the Hospitality industry. He has the distinction of chairing the ad-hoc board of Hospitality Studies and has served on the Academic Council and various other positions in the University of Mumbai since 2004.

CHEF YOGESH UTEKAR is a Culinary maestro who has harmonized his passion and flair for cooking with teaching and training.

Chef Yogesh graduated in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from D.Y. Patil Institute – Navi Mumbai. He started his career with the Taj Group of hotels and later worked with the Oberoi, MMI Dubai, ITM Institute for Hotel Management.

His culinary repertoire in Indian Cuisine covers Banquet and Buffet Operations, Theme Dinners, Outdoor Catering with creative menus. His skills go beyond the Indian borders to encompass European Cuisine.

He has been invited to make appearances on television programmes and has assisted in facilitating sessions of Masterchef India I, II, III for Star TV. His life revolves around Food and Travel and has served as an ambassador for Indian Cuisine in Universities worldwide. In the strong belief that ‘to teach is to learn’, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and skills with young aspiring chefs.


Prof. Conrad D’Sousa

He is a Hospitality Educator who has completed his Master’s Degree in Tourism Management and a Graduate in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management – Mumbai. He is a Member of the Ad-hoc Board of Studies – Hospitality Studies and an approved Faculty of the University of Mumbai. He has been the Chairperson, Moderator and Paper setter for Food and Beverage Management and Front Office Management at the University of Mumbai. He has been the Academic Co-ordinator for the Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management in association with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality United Kingdom and the Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts in association with City & Guilds United Kingdom.

He joined the Hotel Corporation of India as a Management Trainee and has worked for eighteen long and fruitful years in the Hospitality Industry. He was working as a Human Resource Manager with Hotel Sahara Star prior to joining the field of Academics as Head of Department at Anjuman- I- Islam’s Institute of Hotel Management. He is an accomplished lecturer with over eight years experience in the field of Academics. His area of expertise is Food and Beverage Service and Front Office Management.

Chef V.K. Iyer

Mr. V. K. Iyer has graduated in Science from the University of Kerela and has completed his Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the premier Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai in 1980. He is one of the best hospitality, educators, having a post-graduate Diploma in Teacher’s Training, D. O. T. and D. T.S. his project on ‘Eggless Mayonnaise’, submitted as part of curriculum in teacher’s training course, won the gold medal in 1988.

Chef Iyer has worked in the industry abroad for 6 years, after which he joined IHM Mumbai in 1986 as teaching faculty in Food Production. In his vast experience of more than three decades, he has successfully designed and implemented various courses like the ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Fast Food Operations’, and ‘Niagara on the Lake (NOTL)’, to name a few.

A fantastic student mentor, he has successfully guided many students in their research projects, theme dinners, buffet assignments, chef’s competitions, etc. A hands-on professor, he has accompanied students on foreign work study- study assignments like “Travel Corporation of India- Indian Food Festival along Rhine River Cruise Lines’ and ‘The Dubai Air Show”. He has trained several of today’s illustrious chefs who have made a name for themselves in different parts of the world. He strongly believes that he is not a king but a kingmaker and his favourite quote is “Chef is always right”.

He is a graduate in Hotel Management and Catering Technology with over 16 years of experience in Kitchen operations and management in India and overseas.

He started his career with The Oberoi Hotels Mumbai, and later worked on board Queen Elizabeth II -a legendary and prestigious cruise liner. As a Chef-de-Cuisine with J.W.Marriott – Juhu, Mumbai, he has acquired extensive experience in setting up hot and cold kitchens and in creating menus. He demonstrates excellence in the art of plated dishes and is proficient in planning and maintaining a hygienic Kitchen environment. He has trained under the expert guidance of many International Chefs and his culinary journey has shaped him into a multi- cuisine Chef, specialising in banquets, all day dining and fine dining. Through his experience, he has imbibed an adaptable and flexible approach that is essential in the hospitality industry.

He believes that the objective of education is to instil in the students the desire to learn throughout their lives.

Mr. Ajay Kumar Ramprasad Meshram

He is a Postgraduate in Hospitality Management and Tourism Management and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Tourism Management.He has cleared the University Grant Commission -NET exam the National Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor in Tourism Management.

He has served as Faculty at the Rizvi college and at ITM College for the International programme of the Queen Margret University Scotland.He has over 20 years of work experience with an optimal blend of industry and teaching. He is extremely passionate about teaching and derives immense satisfaction from being able to mould and motivate a new breed of Hospitality students.

He is Chef, Trainer and Administration with a decade of experience in hospitality-hotels, resorts and hospitality education. He is Postgraduate in Hospitality and Tourism Management and is currently pursuing his PhD. in Culinary Arts. He specializes in Indian and International Cuisines with Fusion Food, Food styling and plating being his forte. He was a Module Co-ordinator for Queen Margaret University for the Culinary Students. He has appeared on “Aaswad” cookery show on Sahyadri Channel. He has additionally shot several demonstration videos for YouTube under the title Eat, Drink and more.

She has a flair for teaching being aided by her E.C.C.Ed (Early Childhood Care and Education) Programme. Her teaching profile boasts of experience in some of the leading schools in Mumbai. She has completed her M.B.B.S in Medicine in her early career and the phrase ‘Never say Never” aptly describes her philosophy in life.

After her graduation, she has worked with Hotel Trident Bandra-Kurla Complex, in Front Office Department. She has subsequently entered into the field of Academics. She believes in developing the intellectual curiosity and confidence in students that will lead to lifelong learning.

He is a graduate in Hotel Management and is currently pursuing a Post Graduate in Business Administration from Welingkars Institute of Management, Matunga.

He has over 12 years experience in the Hospitality sector – working in Hotels, Retail, QSR and Wine companies. He has International Experience having worked as a Training Manager with Ramada Hotel, UK (Belfast). He also has the distinction of having received the best trainer award from Mantralaya (Govt of Maharashtra) under the skill development sector (NSDC).

Inclination towards the art of bakery and confectionary made her change the career from a commerce graduate to B.Sc. in hospitality studies. Currently she is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Studies. She has an experience over 16 years in the hospitality industry specializing in the field of bakery and confectionary. She began her career as a Trainee Chef at The Ambassador, Churchgate. Was also a part of the pre-opening team of The Inter Continental, Marine Drive. Her career graph ascended when she joined J. W. Marriott, Juhu , where she almost served for more than 12 years of her career and has worked with many international chefs. She believes each day is a new day to learn and discover to the wonderful and imaginative world of this field. She takes pride in imparting the knowledge and experience acquired in the industry to our young aspiring chefs.

He has graduated in Hospitality and Hotel administration from I. H. M. Mumbai and also completed his Diploma in International Chef Course from IHM (Mumbai) affiliated with Niagara on the Lake Culinary School (Canada). He is also pursuing his M.Sc in Tourism and Hospitality Management. He has 4 years of experience in Human Resource from Mafoi Management Consultancy and Bharti AXA. He also has 9 years of teaching experience from I. H. M. Mumbai and Kohinoor College of Hotel Management with working experience of 2 years for an Indian fine dining restaurant in U. S. A. (Atlanta, Georgia) and (North Carolina).

He has passion for Food, teaching and learning which gives him an energy to stay strong and young. He believes in “Education is not simply the transmission of knowledge. It is not simply the development of talent. Education is the great enterprise of steadily and surely passing on the fullness of humanity from the past to the future.”

Prof. Manasi Kulkarni is a graduate in the field of Hotel Management and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree. Prior to entering into academics, she has worked in the hospitality industry. Her passion for teaching prompted her to enter the field of Academics. Her forte is Housekeeping and she spares no efforts in constantly upgrading herself in her chosen field. It is her earnest desire to use her skills to contribute meaningfully to the overall growth and development of her students.

Madhuri Deshbhratar

After having completed her Diploma in Hotel Management from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management, Bhopal. She attained a postgraduate degree in Hotel Management from the University of Nagpur and went on to complete her Masters in Business Administration specializing in Human Resource Management from Poddar College, Mumbai.

Professor. Deshbhratar started her career as a Management Trainee in a leading Five Star hotel in Nagpur at that point of time. She then joined The Leela, Mumbai as an Executive in the Housekeeping Department. A seasoned hotelier and academician Prof.Deshbhratar has taught Accommodation Management at IHM (Ahmedabad), I. M. I, (Khandala) and Kohinoor College of Hotel and Tourism Management, Dadar, Mumbai before Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai.

She strongly believes that hospitality is personified as loved in action. It has much more to do with the resources of a generous heart than with sufficiency of food or space.

A young and zealous, Apeksha Patil, a university level topper, graduated in field of Hotel Management, from one of the best Universities in India; holds a work experience of luxury hotels such as The Oberoi, Mumbai and Vivanata by Taj in Food and Beverage Department. During her work tenure she has been awarded the Best Employee. She has joined the educational field with an aim to fine tune the young budding hoteliers and keep them updated regarding new evolutions in the Hotel Industry. Her motive is to inspire students to learn, create a caring and an inspiring atmosphere and encourage creating enquiring minds.

Jyotsna Bhosale

Jyotsna Bhosale, graduated in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the premier and prestigious, I. H. M, Mumbai. She has completed her Post Diploma in Teacher’s Training as well as the Certified Hospitality Education program – (American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institution). She also has a Degree in B.A.
She embarked upon her teaching career at her Alma Mater, I. H. M, Mumbai. In the hospitality field for the past 35 plus years, she has superannuated as Head of Food Production Department from IHM, Mumbai. She has also co-authored a book on Mahrashtrian Cuisine – published by MTDC.

Nazia graduated from D.Y. Patil- Pune. She is the first Silver medallist from her institution throughout Maharashtra. Her passion to succeed drove her to become the First OCLD (Oberoi Centre of learning and development) student to be selected from her institute. She joined the work force as an Assistant Manager at The Oberoi Mumbai. She served The Oberoi’s for 7 years. Thereafter she has held esteemed designations at The Taj, Hyatt, J.W Marriott & Oceania Cruise Liner. Her 10 years of experience in the service industry involves Handling various element of customer service; Situation Handling. Client handling is her forté. Her current position involves handling students with regards to Personality Development; Language Skills & Overall grooming.
She has recently completed her M.Sc. in tourism and Hospitality and entered the teaching profession. She has a teaching experience of 3 years. She is latest addition to the SRIHM family.

Approved faculty of university of Mumbai. Completed Modules of Motivation, leadership, 21st C Manager from Johnson & wales university, Miami USA. Good expertise of wine, having completed Wset wine course, London.

He joined the Taj Palace, Mumbai as an apprentice & has worked for 26 extensive and experienced years in the hospitality industry. Working in Costa cruise lines gave him a worldly exposure in different cultures which is really beneficial for students.

He started his academic career 7 years ago at St. Andrew’s College. He was in charge of Food & Beverage Department.

Additionally completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Labour, Consumer and Administrative law. Over the years she has gained great experience in the academic field with extensive knowledge in subjects such as Food and Beverage Service, Food Production and Patisserie, Management and other subjects, IATA module for Cabin crew and Aviation.

She started her industry experience with Trident bandra kurla and Intercontinental, Mumbai. Prior to joining worked at IITC(IATA),Culinary Craft, AVM school Juhu, Sophia polytechnic. Having gained experience in 6 years in the Aviation, Hospitality, Catering and Academics.

She is an energetic facilitator and always strives for excellence.

He has 8 yrs. of experience on the position of pastry Chef in one of the finest 5 star property in Mumbai. Having won many accolades in his career got him a chance to represent India twice for Asia pastry cup in Singapore.

Chef Lawrence is one of the few chefs who has the knowledge of pull sugar art.
He loves doing Innovative thing & teaching them to others, his passion to share the knowledge by teaching has brought him to the education industry from the hotel Industry.
He takes lot of pride in sharing his knowledge to the aspiring Chef students to build their career.

Pursuing PhD and Completed Master of philosophy and Masters of Business Administration from reputed Institutes. Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Studies. Oracle Certified Professional Database Administrator ( OCP- DBA). Served as Course Coordinator of Mumbai University, YCMOU University, AHLA Course, IGNOU University, HTMi and MSBVE.

He contributed knowledge in syllabus making of various subjects. Successfully implemented ERP to streamline the process of the institution. Attained better workability of different sections of college and faster results. Improved the planning and functional process level.

Owing to the vast experience he has profound knowledge which helps him in superseding and gaining expertise in different arenas of the Educational Intuitions.

She is graduate in Hotel management and Catering Technology, an alumni of IHM Goa with seventeen years of work experience in Hotels and Academics. She is a Post Graduate, Masters in Business Administration, specializing in Human Resource Management. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Mumbai University.

Her career started with Hotel Hyatt Regency Mumbai in the Front Office Department, as a part of pre-opening team, evolving as a professional with due experience. She has been into the field of academics over the past eleven years, worked as Assistant Professor with Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management, New Delhi. She is a strong advocator of positive reinforcement techniques for the development of students and has always believed in resilience and effective time management as the key for fostering effective learning culture.

The arena of academics ranges from Front Office management, Human Resource Management, Business Communication, Personality Development to Workplace safety and management. She has been an actively involved in Research and Publications work and has published several articles and papers in hospitality journals and magazines.

Empathetic nature with good listening ability, coupled by an outgoing personality enables her to maintain a harmonious relationship with the students.

PROF. SUMITRA DESHMUKH has earned a Master’s Degree in Science and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Dietetics. Her passion for teaching brought her into the education field 16 years ago. She began her career as a faculty at SNDT, Mumbai in 1998 and since then has been a visiting faculty at various Institutes including Atharva College of Hotel Management, St. Andrews College, ITM IHM and also The Centre of Excellence.

She has authored a book titled ‘Catering Science and Food Safety’ which is an invaluable reference for the faculty and students of the Hospitality Industry.

She is an examiner and evaluator for Mumbai University, Yashwant Rao Chauhan Maharashtra Open University, MSBT and COE (upgraded centers of ITI). She holds the distinction of being a lead food auditor for ISO 22000 (food safety system) and also a food safety trainer.

PROF. C. A. JOSEPH is an engineer by qualification. However, a Diploma in Hotel Administration from the Prestigious Ecole d’hotellerie et de Tourisme – Chur, Switzerland and training at Hotel Admiral Lugano, Switzerland brought him into the field of hospitality where he discovered his linguistic talent. On completing a course in the French Language, he has been awarded the Knighthood of ‘Trou Normand’ by the Universite de Caen, France. He has taught French and German at the V.G. Vaze College in Mulund and is currently a visiting faculty at various hospitality management colleges in Mumbai.

A lecturer with oodles of experience, who specialises in Front Office Management and is equally proficient in Marketing management and Human resource management. She has completed her Master’s in Business Administration, Master’s in Tourism Management, Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management and is also a Certified Career Counsellor.
After working as Front Office manager in Hospitality Industry, she has now chosen to impart knowledge to budding hospitality professionals. She is a firm believer in the adage- “Time is of Essence – Value time and it shall value you”.She truly is a reflection of the saying “Burn to enlighten others”.

Namrata Arya

Namrata Arya is an accomplished academician with 5 plus years in teaching. She has completed her Master of Technology in Computer Science and her Bachelor Degree in Information Technology. She is a voracious reader and believes that perpetual learning is the key to success. Ms. Arya is very passionate about academics and wants to contribute to society by empowering her students with knowledge to help them succeed in the ever-changing and evolving hospitality industry.
